Greetings Durkin Park Families,

This week’s updates can be found below:

Yard Signs

• We have new yard signs available for parent pick-up at no cost. Yard signs can be picked up by parents from the security desk at door one or the main office. Limit one sign per household.

CPS Facilities Master Plan

• CPS is looking for parent feedback on their Educational Facilities Master plan for the next 5 years. This means that you will be able to provide feedback on what buildings you think need attention in the Far Southwest Side. To register for the virtual or in person meeting, click HERE.

Intermediate Dance

• The annual 5th & 6th Grade Dance will be held on January 26th, 2024 from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
• The event will cost $5.
• Additional event details will be shared by your child’s teacher.

Student Awards

• Between January 29th -February 2nd Durkin Park students will receive first semester academic and citizenship awards.
• Awards will be distributed in the classroom and parents will be unable to attend.

Dental Forms

• If your child received a form for dental services, please return it as soon as possible.

Uniforms

• Sweatshirts have been delivered and can be ordered here.
• Durkin Park sweatshirts are the only top layer permitted by the uniform policy. Students will be asked to remove non-Durkin Park sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters and jackets starting next week.

School Events:

• Durkin Park has several regularly scheduled meetings that provide parents an opportunity to stay informed as well as provide feedback on school matters. Please mark your calendars for the following:
  • Durkin Park Local School Council: February 15th 3:30 PM, April 18th 3:30 PM, May 30th 3:30 PM
  • Local School Council Candidate Forum: March 13th, 2024, 4:30 PM
  • Durkin Park PAC/BAC: February 6th 8:15 AM, March 5th 8:15 AM, April 2nd 8:15 AM, May 5th 8:15 AM.
  • Coffee with the Principal: February 6th 8:30 AM, March 5th 8:30 AM, April 2nd 8:30 AM, May 5th 8:30 AM.

Señales de jardín

• Tenemos nuevos cartelones para el jardín listos para que los padres los recojan sin costo alguno en el mostrador de seguridad en la puerta uno o en la oficina principal. Límite de un letrero por hogar.

Plan Maestro de Instalaciones de CPS

• CPS está buscando comentarios/sugerencias de los padres sobre el plan maestro de instalaciones educativas para los próximos 5 años. Esto significa que podrá brindar comentarios sobre qué edificios cree que necesitan atención en el suroeste de Chicago (sus escuelas). Baile de Niveles Intermedio

• El baile anual de 5.o y 6.o grado se llevará a cabo el 26 de enero del 2024 de 3:30 - 5:00 PM.
• El evento costará $5.
• El maestro de su hijo compartirá detalles adicionales del evento.

Premios estudiantiles

• Entre el 29 de enero y el 2 de febrero, los estudiantes de Durkin Park recibirán premios académicos y de ciudadanía del primer semestre.
• Los premios se distribuirán en el aula y los padres no podrán asistir.

Formularios dentales

• Si su hijo recibió un formulario de servicios dentales, devuélvalo lo antes posible.

Uniformes

• Las sudaderas han sido entregadas y se pueden pedir aquí.
• Las sudaderas de Durkin Park son la única capa superior permitida por la política de uniformes. A partir de la próxima semana, se pedirá a los estudiantes que se quiten las sudaderas, sudaderas con capucha, suéteres y chaquetas que no sean de Durkin Park.

Eventos escolares:

• Durkin Park tiene varias reuniones programadas regularmente que brindan a los padres la oportunidad de mantenerse informados y brindar comentarios sobre asuntos escolares. Por favor marque sus calendarios para lo siguiente:
  • Consejo escolar local de Durkin Park: 15 de febrero 3:30 p.m., 18 de abril 3:30 p. m., 30 de mayo 3:30 PM
  • Foro de candidatos al consejo escolar local: 13 de marzo de 2024, 4:30 p.m.
  • Durkin Park PAC/BAC: 6 de febrero a las 8:15 a. m., 5 de marzo a las 8:15 a. m., 2 de abril a las 8:15 a. m, 5 de mayo 8:15 a.m.
