Greetings Durkin Park Families,

As we come to the close of the first semester and the end of 2023, I am reminded of the African Proverb,
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far go together”. As a community we have come so
far over the last five months.

Our students are making strides academically, socially, emotionally and athletically.
Our teachers have become district leaders in advancing instructional practice and high-quality curriculum.
Our ESPs are ensuring the needs of every child are met.
Our parents are working together to ensure Durkin Park remains a robust and caring learning community
for years to come.

I have never been more thankful to be Principal of Durkin Park. This week’s updates can be found below.

School Building Closed

• Durkin Park will be closed for winter break starting 12/22/23. During this time the Main Office will be unavailable. Classes resume on 1/8/24 at 7:45 AM.

Uniforms

• Sweatshirts have been delivered and can be ordered here.
• Durkin Park sweatshirts are the only top layer permitted by the uniform policy. Students will be asked to remove non-Durkin Park sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters and jackets starting next week.

School Events:

• Durkin Park has several regularly scheduled meetings that provide parents an opportunity to stay informed as well as provide feedback on school matters. Please mark your calendars for the following:
  • Durkin Park Local School Council: February 15th 3:30 PM, April 18th 3:30 PM, May 30th 3:30 PM
  • Local School Council Candidate Forum: March 13th, 2024, 4:30 PM
  • Durkin Park PAC/BAC: January 9th 8:15 AM, February 6th 8:15 AM, March 5th 8:15 AM, April 2nd 8:15 AM, May 5th 8:15 AM.
  • Coffee with the Principal: January 9th 8:30 AM, February 6th 8:30 AM, March 5th 8:30 AM, April 2nd 8:30 AM, May 5th 8:30 AM.

Saludos a las familias de Durkin Park,

A medida que nos acercamos al final del primer semestre y al final de 2023, recuerdo el Proverbio africano: “Si quieren ir rápido, vayan solos. Si quieren llegar lejos, vayan juntos”. Como comunidad hemos llegado muy lejos en los últimos cinco meses.

Nuestros estudiantes están avanzando académica, social, emocional y atleticamente.
Nuestros maestros se han convertido en líderes del distrito en el avance de la práctica educativa y el plan de estudios de alta calidad.
Nuestros ESP garantizan que se satisfagan las necesidades de cada niño.
Nuestros padres están trabajando juntos para garantizar que Durkin Park siga siendo una comunidad de aprendizaje sólida y solidaria en los años venideros.

Nunca he estado más agradecido de ser director de Durkin Park. Las actualizaciones de esta

Edificio escolar cerrado

• Durkin Park estará cerrado por vacaciones de invierno a partir del 22/12/23. Durante este tiempo, la oficina principal no estará disponible. Las clases se reanudan el 8/1/24 a las 7:45 a.m.

Uniformes

• Las sudaderas han sido entregadas y se pueden pedir aquí.
• Las sudaderas de Durkin Park son la única capa superior permitida por la política de uniformes. A partir de la próxima semana, se pedirá a los estudiantes que se quiten las sudaderas, sudaderas con capucha, suéteres y chaquetas que no sean de Durkin Park.

Eventos escolares:

• Durkin Park tiene varias reuniones programadas regularmente que brindan a los padres la oportunidad de mantenerse informados y brindar comentarios sobre asuntos escolares. Por favor marque sus calendarios para lo siguiente:
