Greetings Durkin Park Families,

This week’s updates can be found below:

Black History Month Attire

• The end our month long celebration of Black History, on Thursday, February 29th, DurkinPark students will be permitted to be out of uniform if they are wearing the following:
  • Colors representative of the Pan-African Flag: Red, Black & Green
  • Colors representative of the Juneteeth Flag: Red, White & Blue
  • Clothing items representative of a Historically Black College or University
  • Culturally appropriate African garments or patterns - Kente Cloth, Mud Cloth, dashiki etc.
  • Clothing items celebrating or acknowledging Black History/Black History Month.

Boys Basketball Grades 5th & 6th

• All games are played a Julian High School
• March 2nd
  • Game 1: Durkin Park (Visiting) vs Claremont (Home) @ 10am
  • Game 2: Durkin Park (Home) vs Marquette @ 12pm
• March 9th
  • Durkin Park (Visiting) vs Hearst (Home) @ 10am

Uniforms

• Sweatshirts have been delivered and can be ordered here.
• Durkin Park sweatshirts are the only top layer permitted by the uniform policy. Students will be asked to remove non-Durkin Park sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters and jackets starting next week.

School Events:

• Durkin Park has several regularly scheduled meetings that provide parents an opportunity to stay informed as well as provide feedback on school matters. Please mark your calendars for the following:
  • Durkin Park Local School Council: April 18th 3:30 PM, May 30th 3:30 PM
  • Local School Council Candidate Forum: March 13th, 2024, 4:30 PM
  • Durkin Park PAC/BAC: March 5th 8:15 AM, April 2nd 8:15 AM, May 5th 8:15 AM.
  • Coffee with the Principal: March 5th 8:30 AM, April 2nd 8:30 AM, May 5th 8:30 AM.

Atuendo del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana

• Al final de nuestro mes de celebración de la Historia Afroamericana, el jueves 29 de febrero, a los estudiantes de Durkin Park se les permitirá no usar el uniforme si visten lo siguiente:
  
  • Colores representativos de la bandera panafricana: rojo, negro y verde
    
  • Colores representativos de la bandera de Juneteeth: rojo, blanco y azul
    
  • Prendas de vestir representativas de un colegio o universidad históricamente negra
    
  • Prendas o patrones africanos culturalmente apropiados: tela Kente, tela de barro,dashiki, etc.
    
  • Artículos de ropa que celebran o reconocen la Historia Afroamericana/Mes de la Historia Afroamericana

Baloncesto masculino grados 5.º y 6.º

• Todos los juegos se juegan en Julian High School.

Uniformes

• Las sudaderas han sido entregadas y se pueden pedir aquí.
• Las sudaderas de Durkin Park son la única capa superior permitida por la política de uniformes. A partir de la próxima semana, se pedirá a los estudiantes que se quiten las sudaderas, sudaderas con capucha, suéteres y chaquetas que no sean de Durkin Park.
