Greetings Durkin Park Families,

Happy 100th day of school! This week’s update can be found below:

Progress Reports

• Students will receive progress reports tomorrow, February 8th.

Cheerleading Competition

• Durkin Park Cheerleaders will have their first competition on Saturday, February 10th at the UIC Forum, 1213 S. Halsted.
  
• Competition starts at 7:00 PM

Early Dismissals

• Please avoid picking up students between 10:20 AM - 1:20PM
  
• During this time students are engaging in lunch and recess pick times will be lengthy

Parent Workshop

• Ms. Hernandez will be hosting a workshop on student-parent goal setting on Tuesday, February 20th at 8:00 AM.

Valentine’s Day February 14

• Student’s are permitted to be out of uniform but must wear red, pink, white or purple.
  
• Student’s are permitted to bring and exchange Valentines Day cards and store bought candy at their teachers discretion.

Intermediate Dance

• The annual 5th & 6th Grade Dance will be held on January 26th, 2024 from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
• The event will cost $5.
• Additional event details will be shared by your child’s teacher.

Uniforms

• Sweatshirts have been delivered and can be ordered here.
• Durkin Park sweatshirts are the only top layer permitted by the uniform policy. Students will be asked to remove non-Durkin Park sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters and jackets starting next week.

School Events:

• Durkin Park has several regularly scheduled meetings that provide parents an opportunity to stay informed as well as provide feedback on school matters. Please mark your calendars for the following:
  • Durkin Park Local School Council: February 15th 3:30 PM, April 18th 3:30 PM, May 30th 3:30 PM
  • Local School Council Candidate Forum: March 13th, 2024, 4:30 PM
  • Durkin Park PAC/BAC: March 5th 8:15 AM, April 2nd 8:15 AM, May 5th 8:15 AM.
  • Coffee with the Principal: March 5th 8:30 AM, April 2nd 8:30 AM, May 5th 8:30 AM.

Saludos a las familias de Durkin Park,

¡Feliz día número 100 de clases! La actualización de esta semana se puede encontrar a continuación:

Reporte de progreso

• Los estudiantes recibirán informes de progreso mañana, 8 de febrero.

Competencia de porristas

• Las porristas de Durkin Park tendrán su primera competencia el sábado 10 de febrero en el UIC Forum, 1213 S. Halsted.
• La competencia comienza a las 7:00 p.m.

Salidas anticipadas

• Evite recoger a los estudiantes entre las 10:20 a. m. y la 1:20 p. m,
  
• Durante este tiempo, los estudiantes están en el almuerzo y recreo y el tiempo para encontrarlos puede ser largo.

Día de San Valentín 14 de febrero

• Los estudiantes pueden estar sin uniforme, pero deben vestir de color rojo, rosa, blanco o morado.
  
• Los estudiantes pueden traer e intercambiar tarjetas y dulces comprados en la tienda el Día de San Valentín a discreción de sus maestros.

Taller para padres

• La Sra. Hernández organizará un taller sobre el establecimiento de metas para padres y estudiantes el martes 20 de febrero a las 8:00 a.m.

Baile de Niveles Intermedio

• El baile anual de 5.o y 6.o grado se llevará a cabo el 26 de enero del 2024 de 3:30 - 5:00 PM.
• El evento costará $5.
• El maestro de su hijo compartirá detalles adicionales del evento.

Uniformes

• Las sudaderas han sido entregadas y se pueden pedir aquí.
• Las sudaderas de Durkin Park son la única capa superior permitida por la política de uniformes. A partir de la próxima semana, se pedirá a los estudiantes que se quiten las sudaderas, sudaderas con capucha, suéteres y chaquetas que no sean de Durkin Park.

Eventos escolares:

• Durkin Park tiene varias reuniones programadas regularmente que brindan a los padres la oportunidad de mantenerse informados y brindar comentarios sobre asuntos escolares. Por favor marque sus calendarios para lo siguiente:

  • Foro de candidatos al consejo escolar local: 13 de marzo de 2024, 4:30 p.m.
